THE 2024 FOODINSPACE AWARDS WINNERS INTERVIEW – RM\Architecture

1. Can you tell us more about your Design Firm?
RM\Architecture is a full-service design firm with a particular focus on residential, commercial, and contract interior design. We offer tailor-made architectural solutions, combining integrated technological systems with ongoing research in design, materials, and new construction technologies. We assist clients in every phase of the process, from needs analysis to preliminary design and construction management, monitoring quality, time, and costs.

2. What does “design” mean to you?
We see design as the art of crafting spaces that tell stories and enhance people’s lives. Our designs combine aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability to create unique and personalized environments.

3. Can you describe your design style and its main characteristics?
A minimalist and functional approach, with a focus on high-quality materials and attention to detail. The interior design features open spaces, clean lines, and a neutral color palette, with pops of color that reflect contemporary hues.

4. As the winner of the FoodInSpace Design Awards 2024, what does receiving this award mean to you, your company and your team?
We are honored to be awarded the FoodInSpace Design Award 2024 for our innovative Julietta Pastry and Lab project. This accolade affirms our commitment to creating sustainable and inspiring food experiences through design. We look forward to seeing how this project can inspire others to push the boundaries of food design.

5. What was the biggest challenge for your winning project/projects?
The most challenging aspect was creating a unique customer experience that reflected the quality and originality of our products. We had to design a space that was not only functional but also emotionally engaging. We achieved this by using warm-toned natural materials, selecting comfortable furnishings, and creating an intimate and relaxing atmosphere through carefully designed lighting.

6. In an increasingly global world, how do you balance local identity with international trends in your design work?
My approach to design is a constant balancing act between the global and the local. International trends keep me updated on the latest innovations, allowing me to offer my clients cutting-edge solutions. At the same time, I strive to root my designs in the culture and history of the place, using traditional materials and techniques. In this way, I create designs that are both contemporary and deeply rooted in their context.

Thank you for the interview!
