Kristen Loken is a seasoned photographer and author with a passion for storytelling through imagery. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, Kristen’s lens captures the essence of her subjects, whether it’s food, people, or the vibrant landscapes of her travels around the globe. From an early age, Kristen found joy in both baking and photography, inspired by the pleasure of creating and the emotional connection it brings. Following her father’s footsteps, she embarked on a journey that seamlessly intertwines her love for food and her keen eye for photography. With over 20 years of experience, Kristen has collaborated with brands of all sizes, helping them shape their identities through captivating visual narratives. Driven by a philosophy of “freudenfreude” Kristen celebrates the success of others as her own. Her work reflects her commitment to kindness, integrity, and excellence, with each project infused with respect, empathy, and compassion. Specializing in food photography, Kristen gravitates towards working with chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers, and all who share her passion for culinary artistry. In 2020, Kristen added authorship to her repertoire with the publication of her second book, “Food People are The Best People. Born out of the challenges of the COVID era, the book shares inspiring stories of resilience and connection through food. Her debut book, “This Is Oakland, published in 2014, showcases her talent for capturing the spirit of a place through captivating imagery. Kristen’s work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler, San Francisco Magazine, and Sunset Magazine, among others. When she’s not behind the lens, Kristen can be found exploring the scenic trails of Northern California, sweating it out at boot camp, or indulging in culinary experiments in her kitchen, always accompanied by her faithful rescue pup Isobel. With a blend of professionalism and warmth, Kristen Loken invites you to experience the world through her lens, where every image tells a story worth savoring.
