Nathan was born in California, USA and raised in Hong Kong with a mixed influence of Western and Chinese culture. His cinematography style of colourful tones and strong sense of movement is an infusion of his mixed cultural upbringing, along with experience of working in HK cinema and with foreign productions. He has shot a diverse amount of films including action movies, romance, tv series comedy films, and even art house movies. Having worked under directors such as Doug Liman (Edge of tomorrow), Felix Chong (Infernal Affairs, Project Gutenberg), cinematographers such as Janusz Kaminski (Saving Private Ryan, Schindlers list) Eben Bolter (The last of US, Secret Invasion) and Karl Walter Lindenlaub ( Independence day) to name a few.
