Roito is a Tokyo-based design studio founded by Ryohei Kanda. Kanda graduated from ICS College of Arts in 2003 and founded Roito in 2013 after working at Hashimoto Yukio Design Studio for 10 years. In 2017, the studio won six international design awards for its RICCA design, and in 2020, it won 11 international design awards for two other projects, earning it worldwide acclaim. There is no absolute in design, but I believe there is an inevitable design. I believe that it can be found in dialogue with clients and brands. If you guide the individuality and will discovered there in a straightforward direction, conceptualize a vision with intelligence and strength, and follow the correct logic, the answer will come naturally. I believe that architecture and interior design do not simply function as structures, but also have the function of influencing encounters and events with various people in society, as well as people’s emotions and experiences. If we can be involved in their lives and memories and build better relationships, then design will have meaning by connecting with people and society, and I believe that this is a contribution to society through design.
