Simone Colombo Architetto
During my years of studying at the Polytechnic of Milan I always pursued this passion and involuntarily found myself tracing what my future as an architect would be. Working as a sound engineer, DJ, promoter, stage manager, I spent most of my time in nightclubs, music pubs, live music restaurants and traveled up and down Italy together with musical artists to manage and organize their shows . The more time passed, the more I realized how a venue, restaurant, pub or disco, was always first and foremost a technical machine with great plant and logistical complexity. As a customer I only saw the beautiful dress that masked its complexity. In 2004 I completed my academic career and began to reflect on the environment around me. I wasn’t passionate about the residential construction sector, I didn’t see positive energy, I could never stand complaining. Compared to other European capitals, Milan still had enormous untapped potential in those years. Entire central neighborhoods had to be completely rethought, still, apparently asleep, but I felt that underneath there was a ferment that would soon explode. I was lucky enough to travel a lot between Europe and America during my university years and I was always struck by the number of clubs present and how they opened onto the city. I saw and heard too many similarities between music and architecture, or rather I found the creative process completely identical. Suggestions > references > definition of a target > development of the idea based on people’s tastes, uses and consumption > project development > promotion. Even today, music and architecture are the same for me.
