Fernando and Leslie shared very similar career paths which intersected at the office of renowned interior designer Kelly Wearstler in Los Angeles, CA. Both began as architects who were interested in too many disciplines to stick to just one. They became co-directors of the studio and worked closely together on a wide variety of projects in various departments. In this hotbed of design they found much in common, not only in their approach to the work at hand, but also in their own individual evolving ideas on design, politics, and culture. They have been involved in hospitality design for many, many years. They’ve both been called design machines, and neither is afraid to get their hands dirty, get down, and get stuff done. Hence the name, Studio Sucio.
