Zhao Yilong | IN BETWEEN

This architectural photography, starting from the situational display of daily life, is not limited to the characteristics of architecture as a “thing”, but also regarded as a carrier of behaviour and activity, and expresses the tension relationship between form, space, structure, material and behaviour in visualised language. This architectural photography was founded in 2018 by Zhao Yilong, a teacher of the Department of Architecture, and Wan Yongbo, an urban landscape photographer. It is a studio that integrates the rigour of architecture and the forward-looking nature of fashion art, and constantly reflects on past shooting projects and further pioneers innovation. At first, the studio’s projects were mostly in rural construction. It was committed to the construction and shooting of rural construction scenes, so that the countryside, nature, characters and architecture could form vivid scenes, and then turned to urban architecture, taking a road surrounded by the countryside. In the shooting, in addition to accurately presenting the large scene of the integration of the building and the environment, the small scene of the resonance between the building and the body is more meticulously depicted, and photography is used as the medium to capture the endless, loose and orderly narrative of each architectural work.
