42, London – England

Project description

Commanding a prime spot looking over Mayfair like a tea estate mansion above Shimla, The 42 bar will become a drinking den enveloped by layers of curated Indian cloth. A winding staircase leads you up to the first floor bar through a dark rich green scented hallway. From this rich and intriguing staircase you enter the intrinsically carved bar showcasing a delicate verre eglomise of Indian peafowl framing the backbar. The dusty pink and deep crimson palette of the bar is reminiscent of the sunset at Jaisalmer Fort, where we will be taking ques of Rajasthani architecture forming the archways into the lounge area.
The table serviced lounge bar is a richer, darker affair of lavish fabrics and leathers, creating a layered collection of the finest paisley’s, damasks and embroidered textiles to provide a backdrop to bespoke oil paintings of our favourite native Indian animals. The styling will be an eclectic mix of art, antiques, furniture and kooky curios… overhead we have specified custom cut glass chandeliers from India.
