The world is a wondrous space composed with different elements and undiscovered surprises. Such notion is poetically translated into Cupping Room’s V city store in Tuen Mun. “We wanted to highlight that sense of place for guests as soon as they step inside the dining venue,” the Unite Unit team explains. “By doing so, we took cue of the multifaceted beauty of Tuen Mun – stunning coastline, astounding mountainscape, rich historical background, these are just a few of the reasons why Tuen Mun is such a unique location.” While the restaurant features a tailor-made narrative, it subtly aligns with all other Cupping Room’s branches with its sensitivity towards sensory and the culture behind the brand.
The space is designed to reflect the endless possibilities of pasta dishes as “there are approximately 250 types of noodles out there, and when they are carefully curated and combined, the results could be mesmerizing”. The same goes to the interior design crafted by Unite Unit as the studio’s founders continue, “Like oceans and seas formed by different waves, we worked with various playful materials and shapes complete with refined colours and patterns for a sense of intimacy that embraces every guest and diner.”
In fact, coffee-coloured tiles, beige terrazzo flooring, crown-cut walnut veneers, concrete accents inspired by the shapes of pasta, panels made from coffee waste, sandblasted stainless steel touches and tactile plastered walls have contributed to a laid-back and tranquil atmosphere. A series of colour-coordinated custom-designed furniture is in place to elevate the desired result. “Every detail we implemented throughout tells the story of Cupping Room’s core values, as well as building an aesthetic connection with Tuen Mun.” The creative team’s painstaking effort definitely shines through every corner.
