Domó Sushi, Milan – Italy

Project description

In the 1,500-square-meter restaurant project, divided into two floors, the interiors were designed by interior designer Ashley Gadeova based on the space layout created by the Naos architectural firm, which also supervised the renovation work, which took five months to complete.
The inspiration is that of an international venue, grand and scenic already from the luxurious atrium, as the central hall appears after passing through the essential open entrance in the period façade. Candles as scenic backdrops lean over the central aisle traversed by the soft curvilinear shapes of the custom-made sofas arranged in a serpentine pattern surrounding the tables. The palette chosen is composed of natural and warm tones that play with sand, earth, travertine, rust and wood.
At the end of the corridor, a staircase leads to the DJ’s mirrored console, in front of which rises, on the same stage, a sushi counter made of split monolithic blocks of natural travertine.
To the right is a large area dedicated to all the cold preparations of rice and sushi. To the left is the kitchen for the hot ones, with gas, induction and wok stations. A separate area is reserved for the cafeteria and desserts.
To the left, still facing the staircase, is a second elevated room, characterized by refined backlit perforated sheet metal walls that mimic the texture of nature and leaves, enveloping several circular sofas in elegant technical velvet. These tables are dedicated to those who seek greater intimacy, without losing the ambience of the room.
There are two staircases leading to the first floor, on the main one you are welcomed by a stone fountain as a reminder of the historic building: here there are also two large rooms with dining tables, a spacious wine cellar, bar-cafeteria and two small private lounges with fireplace. Not visible, all the technical spaces (changing rooms, laundry rooms, service rooms, fish cleaning) necessary to handle large volumes.
The entire lighting system of the restaurant was designed according to domotics with a Dali automation system and can be fully managed from a tablet. Impressive contractor and plant works were also carried out, which included architectural works preparatory to the realization of the new activity.
