E-City SOCIAL, Electronic City, Bangalore – India

Project description

E-City SOCIAL isn’t just a café-bar—it’s a rebellion against monotony in the heart of India’s tech capital. Located in Electronic City, Bengaluru—a district known more for cubicles and code than cocktails and community—this project reimagines what it means to dine, work, and unwind under one roof.
The creative spark? A concept we called “The Anti-Office.” Inspired by the neighborhood’s corporate culture, we turned the idea of an office on its head. From a distance, the space feels familiar—cubicles, meeting rooms, even a CEO’s cabin. But step closer and the illusion collapses. Every element is a parody. The photocopier is actually the host desk. The office chairs are mismatched on purpose. A Spam Message Wall displays fake motivational posters and outdated email scams. Even the restrooms come with satirical instructions on “How to Resign from Your Job.”
Function meets transformation. By day, pivoting tables and quiet work pods create a productive co-working environment. By night, the tables move, lights shift, and the space morphs into a vibrant social playground—complete with an Infinity Mirror DJ console, a bar designed like a 90s server room, and a tapri-style smoking cart that nods to old-school office chai breaks.
The biggest creative challenge was visibility. Located on the third floor of a commercial building, the outlet could have easily disappeared into the skyline. Our solution? A container-style facade craned up and installed at an angle to command attention from the street. The bold orange and muted green color palette cuts through the steel-and-glass surroundings, while bilingual typography (English + Kannada) ensures the space feels local, inclusive, and proud of its roots.
The project was also a test in executional creativity. Using FlatPack construction, 92% of the materials were pre-fabricated offsite—including a 46-foot-long bar, assembled on-site in just two days. The result was faster build times, reduced waste, and a scalable format that can be rolled out across locations without compromising creativity or consistency.
Ultimately, E-City SOCIAL doesn’t just tell a story—it invites people to live inside one. A place where irony, nostalgia, and modern hospitality meet in perfect sync. It’s proof that restaurant design can be cheeky, culturally relevant, and deeply memorable—all at once.
