The Happy Ramen project challenged our team with a task to design a lively and welcoming store dedicated to instant noodles Drawing inspiration from instant ramen sections of Japanese and Korean convenient stores, the design aims to spotlight a wide range of instant ramen options in a playful and visually captivating setting.
To achieve this, a vibrant pink shelf is sectioned by white ramen display columns, forming a dynamic showcase that emphasizes the colorful packaging of the noodles. These shelves seamlessly extend along the walls, incorporating practical features like basket holders and snack displays while maintaining a consistent and cheerful design language throughout the store. This thoughtful approach achieves a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic charm.
The layout was carefully crafted to lead customers through a smooth and engaging experience: from picking up a basket and choosing ramen, to selecting toppings, grabbing drinks, checking out, cooking, and, finally, dining. This intuitive flow not only enhances the customer journey but also ensures no disruption for staff circulation.
At the core center of the space, wrapped with these pink elements, is a compact island that combines a reception area with seatings. This setup encourages side-by-side dining, creating a lively and crowded atmosphere that captures the attention of those passing by the storefront.
The color palette—featuring pink, blue, and yellow—was provided from the client to us as Happy Ramen’s brand identity to be integrated into the store’s interior and its features. We developed these colors into key elements like the shelves, counter, and custom LED lights, resulting in a fresh and youthful ambiance that strongly appeals to the store’s primary target audience: Gen Alpha.
The final design successfully delivers a space that is as fun and inviting as it is practical, seamlessly blending modern aesthetics with the universal love for instant ramen.
