La Taberna Gallega de Marcos, Barcelona – Spain

Project description

The proposal of our studio for the Marcos Galician Tavern restaurant in Barcelona is to immerse the diner in a sea environment, where fish is the main axis of the gastronomy and the space. The Galician beach, with its blue seabed and tan sand, serves as inspiration.
The space created brings this experience of the sea closer, its colors and textures intertwine perfectly with the dishes served.
The. Beach and the sea, with their blue notes, the tan tone of the sand and its marine fauna, mix in the Galician Tavern of Marcos. The space is separated into three different areas, but linked by the same leitmotif, the sea.
Access is intended for the bar area. A bar with nods to the sea waves that move under the breeze, and can be seen in its ceilings, which also serve as an anti-reflective element for the good acoustics of the place.
A bar counter all made of toned walnut wood, as if it were an old ship, a ship that has undergone changes to its hull due to the salt of the sea.

In this area we find a display case full of tapas and a seafood farm, which immerse the customer in an environment where they can enjoy with the senses. In the background a backdrop of walnut wood shelves with a mirror-covered bottom, with wooden uprights in organic shapes, also recalling the shapes of fishing boats.
In the main living room, the common thread is the same, backlit wooden ceilings and an imitation wood porcelain floor are the components that embrace the walls, where wooden windows painted in white are replicated and encounters are combined with full walnut wood garidons. of decorations and marine props.
Glass windows that resemble those of a cabin, and upholstered furniture in marine tones are the perfect cherry on top to make the place shine.
On the lower floor, we find a private living room. Where the client can reserve one or two rooms depending on the number of diners they need, this space has an accordion enclosure to be able to delimit said room.
The bathrooms, a special space, a place where we immerse and never better said the client in the bottom of the sea, a space completely tiled with blue tiles, mirrors on the ceiling and backlighting also in the color of the sea, a pure and clean area, where Our studio always uses the 5 senses to design.
