Ruby Ray’s, Saint Julians – Malta

A visit to Ruby Ray’s is a journey, where tradition and innovation meet, and all the senses are awakened. It is an experience within a vibrant and bold ambiance, complimenting the exotic flavours of the Indian cuisines by which the concept was so deeply inspired.
In spirit of the fusion within the cuisine on offer, which is a harmonious blend of Indian tradition and Mediterranean tastes, the interior design concept was driven by a combination of maximalist charm, colonial elegance and refinement. The lighting sets the tone completely, with soft, ambient hues creating a warm and intimate vibe upon arrival. The flexibility of the lighting system ensures that the space can transition from day to night, with a simple preset.
Finishes such as plush seating, stylish fixtures, and rich colour palettes of deep reds, golds and earth-tones, juxtaposed against vibrant greens and vegetation throughout, invite guests to unwind and savour the Ruby Ray’s experience. Intricate Indian-inspired details, such as opulent textiles and details, are thoughtfully paired with minimalist and modern elements, such as the sleek, organic ceiling design. The result is an elegant yet approachable atmosphere, where tradition and innovation coexist.
Comprising of three main seating zones, the restaurant crucially caters to operational flexibility. The Main Dining Room offers booths of varying sizes, private yet still very much within the open-plan area of the venue, comfortably nestled around the DJ booth and within reasonable reach of both the bar and the restrooms. The Emerald Room, styled to embody a terrace within an Indian Palace, can be used by one whole party but would also be appropriate to split into seating for intimate tables of two. The Private Dining Room, which seats up to fourteen persons, is a standalone art piece, featuring a hand-painted mural designed specifically for the space. To add to the grandness of this dining room, as in palaces around the world, a custom art piece was created and illuminated, suspended from the ceiling and centrally visible upon entrance into the restaurant. Lastly, the Restrooms were designed to create a visual break from the intricate and elaborate interiors. Gold-textured walls, sumptuous marbles and a ceiling of heavenly feathers transport you to a new world upon entering.
Every corner of Ruby Ray’s reflects the marriage of old-world charm and modern sophistication, with the centrepiece being the fully illuminated bar, the perfect backdrop to savour one of their amazing cocktails.
