With yards of pink victorian lace draping windows to the velvet plush ornate armchairs that sink your weary body as you sit down to the 17th century flower paintings one could easily mistaken this romantic restaurant and coffee shop for a front parlor room in a Shakespearean novel.Based in the thriving metropolis of Dubai, Shakespeare and Co. was conceived and developed in the UAE in 2001 and the chain has grown to 35 owned and operated outlets in the UAE, with 12 franchised outlets in Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq and the United States.While each restaurant is distinctly ‘Shakespearean’, each restaurant is unique in terms of colours, decorations and layouts that differentiate it from ‘cookie cutter’ concepts. The design is developed by an in-house team and every piece of furniture and equipment is handmade in the company’s own workshops. This emphasis on design has set Shakespeare and Co. apart from its competitors.
