Located in Lynchburg, Virginia, this forgotten building was purchased by a small, tight-knit family with a vision. Originally built as a 1940’s Doctor Pepper Bottling Plant, our firm was hired to reimagine the space for a food and retail campus. One of the projects we designed within this comprehensive space is Truss, a local restaurant focusing on crafted food and drink with local farm-to-table ingredients. The bakery, Flour District, provides delicious pastries and sandwiches, all made in-house. The space is already a popular hangout spot for locals to meet up and work or relax. Flour District shares it’s kitchen space with a community kitchen, which offers cooking classes for adults and children alike. The building also houses Scratch, a local handmade pasta business, with both it’s retail front and production in back-of-house. It’s shop serves up packaged pastas as well as cooked items for carryout, fresh cheeses, wine, kitchen supplies and local pottery.
