Zen by Zasshi, Hermosillo – Mexico

Project description

Zen is a minimalist restaurant concept based on traditional Japanese design elements and design. According to the values and techniques of Japanese interior design a simple, modern and respectful interior space was created by the team of Tamen Arq.
Following some of the norms of wabi-sabi, which is derived from the concept of non-permanence and the passage of time, nature was the main source of inspiration, as well as the use of natural materials like wood and the recreation of soft organic shapes using fabrics and textured wall finishes in the restaurant. Traditional elements of the Japanese culture were integrated as decoration, as e.g. the kimono in the back of the reception, accent wallpaper with Japanese art and plants inside and out the restaurant. Marble countertops and round marble slabs with indirect lighting, an exposed brick wall with its imperfections and bare concrete were used to create a modern but warm mood.
This creating a timeless atmosphere based on Japanese traditions.
